Hexagon Geospatial is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Airbus Defence and Space in a new content-sharing program that will bring together both Earth observation data and software for use in the development of smart applications.
As part of the Hexagon Content Program, this partnership combines optical satellite data from Airbus Defence and Space with the Hexagon Geospatial’s offerings. Intended to tear down the walls between geospatial content, software and solutions, this partnership fuels the creation of new smart applications which provide end users with insightful and powerful ways of transforming data into useful information.
“Today’s sophisticated end users want customized analytics that meet their dynamic and unique workflows – providing them with a quick snapshot to support faster and more effective decision-making,” said Mladen Stojic, President of Hexagon Geospatial. “Our new partnership with Airbus Defence and Space satisfies this need by empowering the creation of smart applications that leverage both enhanced imagery and our software solutions.”
The Airbus Defence and Space portfolio—with exclusive access to both optical and radar satellites like Pléiades, SPOT, TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X—spans the entire geo-information value chain, covering any point on Earth at least once a day. In addition to a 30-year archive of imagery, the company offers a wide variety of up-to-date and ready-to-use products, ranging from country wide scenes to highly accurate orthorectified local coverage.
“Hexagon Geospatial has changed the game by offering a platform to build and deliver smart applications to our customers,” said Greg Buckman, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space. “Now, with this new offering from Hexagon Geospatial, our data can be a part of localized, vertical market applications that improve customer accessibility to the technology they need.”
Initially, the partnership will provide users with access to content from Airbus Defence and Space’s high-resolution optical satellites, including Pléiades and SPOT. In the future, Hexagon Geospatial smart applications will be able to utilize the powerful radar images and digital elevation models from TerraSAR-X.
