Hexagon Showcases Digital, Safe and Connected Solutions at Smart City Expo World Congress14 November 2017
Hexagon AB, a leading global provider of information technology solutions, will showcase its solutions for digital, safe and connected smart cities in Barcelona, Spain at Smart City Expo World Congress, the leading international event for smart cities.
Driven by disruptive innovation, Hexagon’s information technology portfolio empowers customers with integrated data feeds and seamless workflows to create smart ecosystems, which Hexagon calls Smart X. From smart cities, smart power plants, and smart factories, to smart mines and smart farms, Hexagon leverages data to digitally transform the way these systems operate.
Hexagon will be at Stand C-327 showcasing how cities of all sizes can cure growing pains, not just cope with them, from reduced power consumption and comfortable housing to less waste and full access to public services. Hexagon will demonstrate its laser scanners, mobile mapping technologies, public safety command and control system, smart city apps and more. Hexagon’s solutions will also be showcased in conjunction with partners Huawei in Stand B-201 and Microsoft in Stand C-301.
“To be smart, cities must be digital, safe and connected,” said Hexagon President and CEO Ola Rollén. “At Smart City Expo World Congress, we will demonstrate how our sensors and data, industry expertise and technologies and platforms empower cities to reach their fullest potential.”
During panel discussions at the event, Hexagon executives will address key topics for smart cities:
- Engaging and Empowering People Using Data and Digital Innovations – Claudio Simão, Chief Technology Officer of Hexagon AB
Digital innovations can help empower civic society by improving engagement in democratic processes. Yet, with all the apps and platforms available, it’s hard to set out a model of citizen engagement going beyond the digital suggestion box and bearing in mind privacy and security related issues. How can city managers better leverage data to model engagement? How can they avoid being drowned in feedback while being inclusive?
- Bend Not Break: Preparing Our Cities to Respond to Emergencies and Disasters – Steven Cost, President of Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure
Cities are vulnerable to natural and human-caused disasters. Hence, they need to be ready to respond effectively and ensure that a comprehensive, all-hazard emergency plan is set to address threats specific to their unique circumstances. Yet, transitioning from day-to-day duties to emergency operations requires a clear definition of roles and responsibilities. How can cities better prepare to cope with emergencies and boost resilience?
- Rethinking Urban Infrastructures in the Digital Age – Uwe Jasnoch, Director of Government, Transportation & Defence at Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure
The infrastructure that cities provide has evolved as needs changed and opportunities arose. Today, sensors check air quality, roadway cameras help with traffic flow and new energy systems have come to fruition. This evolution has the potential to have the greatest impact, as long as it involves citizens and leverages their creativity and innovation. How can local governments rethink urban infrastructures so they better serve city dwellers?
