HEXAGON OVERVIEW
Hexagon Geospatial technology chosen to manage and distribute imagery, LiDAR, and Elevation Data within the organisation.
09 May 2015Water NSW (New South Wales) in Australia has chosen Hexagon Geospatial technology to manage and distribute imagery, LiDAR, and Elevation Data within the organisation.
Australia is one of the driest continents on earth, and the need to ensure a reliable water supply through times of drought and erratic seasonal rainfalls has driven the development of several complex and innovative water supply solutions.
Water NSW manages raw water supplies for NSW, including high quality drinking water to 4.5 million people in the Greater Sydney region and rural towns, and irrigators and the environment in regional NSW. They obtain imagery from various sources to assist with water and vegetation management, and were looking for a solution to efficiently manage and serve large catalogues of imagery that is processed and analysed using ERDAS IMAGINE®.
Hexagon Geospatial’s ERDAS APOLLO was chosen to be their image server due to high-speed imagery delivery, ease of use, automated geoprocessing server, interoperability capabilities based on OGC standards and a web-based delivery application.
The centralised imagery management solution has dramatically improved access and management of large libraries of imagery data, identified redundant and duplicate data, saved disk space on Water NSW’s servers, and reduced staff time on mundane processing tasks to allow them to focus on high value analysis. Additionally, this solution allows Water NSW to share this valuable information with all staff in their organisation seamlessly.
The solution will be used within a range of web mapping solutions that assist in the management of Water NSW’s assets. Since implementation of ERDAS APOLLO, the Geospatial Portal too has also been deployed as the visualisation tool.
ERDAS APOLLO provides comprehensive data management and delivery, the fastest image server, for all of your data. Even create value-added products on demand.
