OUR STORY
Las Vegas, Nevada, June 15, 2017 – In his keynote delivered at HxGN LIVE in Las Vegas, Hexagon Geospatial president Mladen Stojic introduced 3D viewing and measurement in M.App X, Hexagon Geospatial’s cloud-based image exploitation solution. This compelling technology merges the power of 3D visualization and analysis to traditional 2D cloud-based image analysis.
“Traditional geospatial intelligence operates in 2D, but a more complete understanding of the terrain and environment is key to meeting today’s security challenges,” said Hexagon Geospatial President Mladen Stojic. “By adding a 3D experience to traditional 2D workflows already operating on the cloud, we empower analysts to escape the flatlands to greater insights, increasing both the speed and, ultimately, the safety of mission-critical operations.”
M.App X is an enterprise-based solution that provides tools for the exploitation of imagery and the creation of imagery-based information products and reports. It includes a rich web-based client application that lets users capture geospatial tradecraft and share it as dynamic services across the enterprise. It also includes a lightweight browser-based client that provides image exploitation capabilities that previously required a high-end workstation.
Using the most advanced web technologies, M.App X delivers desktop-like performance and real-life visualizations. Hexagon Geospatial’s next generation solutions provide enterprise-wide sharing and analysis. Incorporating a 3D experience gives analysts a more realistic environment in which to perform their geointelligence workflows
The demonstration covered a number of early use cases, showing not only the display and navigation in 3D, but also some analysis and mensuration of imagery in the 3D environment. M.App X 3D makes it easy to take accurate, real-world measurements, digitize flight paths for animated models, and even place threat domes for situational analysis.
“Working in 3D brings a whole new level of understanding to the process of analyzing imagery,” said Brad Skelton, Senior Product Engineer. “Switching easily from a local 2D view to a global 3D view provides immediate understanding of location. Being able to tilt and move along the valleys and peaks in a scene gives a very real feel for the terrain and spatial relationships that are just not apparent from a static flat view.”
