In Norway, fishing, and oil and gas are the two biggest industries, and it is of national interest to maintain a sustainable exploitation of these resources. Both industries use the same offshore acreage, creating the potential for area conflicts. Sharing information between these industries is key, and Hexagon is providing the means by contributing to a web-based map solution developed by its partner Norconsult.
Norconsult, in collaboration with the non-profit organization EPIM and industry representatives, developed the map solution SAM-X to assist Norway’s fishing, oil, and seismic industries. SAM-X provides a platform for sharing efficient, timely and accurate activity information between important stakeholders, including authorities, fisheries, operators, suppliers, and seismic vendors. The result is more optimized and sustainable operations for these segments. Hexagon is delivering back-end support through its GeoMedia WebMap technology, which adds robust toolkits and interactive developer communities that allow EPIM to build effective custom web enterprise solutions.

Trondheim is a historic port city located on the Trondheimsfjord in central Norway, making the city a major land and sea transport link between the more populous southern region and the less inhabited northern region.
Known as a technology center, Trondheim welcomes start-up companies to test new ways to deliver municipal services. The city is also home to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and other technology-related organizations.
Trondheim Municipality, a Smart City, simplifies map production, urban planning, cadastral management, and thematic mapping with optimized workflows in GeoMedia Professional. Then, geographic information is published using GeoMedia WebMap for staff and citizens to access and utilize for planning and decision making.
