Hexagon Geospatial Announces Connection to Hexagon Imagery Program
Power Portfolio increases offering with high quality, professional imagery available through the Hexagon Imagery Program (HxIP)19 May 2015
Hexagon Geospatial is pleased to announce its participation in the Hexagon Imagery Program (HxIP), providing access to professional grade airborne imagery of North American and European regions directly from products in the Power Portfolio.
This premium imagery, available through the cloud, provides another access point for creating actionable information from the Producer Suite of the Power Portfolio. With the addition of readily accessible, high quality multi-band imagery, image-derived elevation and stereo data can be readily and easily exploited with ERDAS IMAGINE.
“The HxIP takes airborne imagery from the sky to the cloud. With this program, we are excited to simplify access to highly accurate and useful data directly from our portfolio,” said Mladen Stojic, President of Hexagon Geospatial. “Combining the HxIP with our products enables users to directly and rapidly access cloud-based imagery to create valuable content, thereby supporting faster decision making.”
Launched in June 2014, the HxIP streams valuable geospatial content and delivers professional-grade airborne images captured with Leica Geosystems’ airborne sensors, including enhanced-resolution, four-band orthos, streamable and rasterised point clouds, and stereo imagery, through two service categories: Basemap and Multispectral.
“The HxIP includes color Infrared imagery, which is ideal to discriminate vegetation from urban features to identify greenspace, vegetation health and more,” said John Welter, Geospatial Solutions Division, Leica Geosystems. “Combining the HxIP with the derived elevation in ERDAS IMAGINE enables you to perform powerful change detection and terrain analytics. Additionally, the stereo data of the HxIP enables you to easily create accurate 3D measurement, feature identification and more – developing valuable content.”
As part of its airborne imagery offerings from the 2014 flying season, the HxIP has released imagery for 11 U.S. states plus portions of six other states in the country. Portions of Canada and Europe are also available in the recent release. The HxIP coverage is rapidly increasing in 2015 with full coverage of the coterminous U.S. expected by the end of the year.
